This coincidence is definitely not a coincidence, the date of the start of broadcasting of private television programs in Iran dates back to 1337, and the date of the start of work of Iran Television is 1345.

In 1337, with the approval of the National Council, Habib Thabit Passel was given permission to build two television transmitters in Tehran and Abadan, and in order to compensate for the cost of setting up these two centers, the privilege of broadcasting advertisements and producing television for 5 years is exclusively assigned to this person. .

Then he established the Iran Radio and Television Company in a large hall at the beginning of Jihoon Street, exactly south of the Zamzam soft drink factory and north of the Volkswagen car company (exclusive representative of Volkswagen cars in Germany), which was the main shareholder of both companies.

He continued to produce 24-inch and 25-inch televisions with the Iranian brand RTI by importing parts from the American RCA company (the company from which the studio equipment of Abadan and Tehran transmitters was purchased).

It is derived from the first words (radio, television, Iran) and its logo design was exactly a copy of the RCA logo. These three letters were placed inside a red circle with a lightning bolt underneath.

These televisions entered the market in large numbers from the beginning of 1340 and were the only brand available in the Iranian market for three years. During this period, other companies set up and equipped production lines and imported parts, and at the beginning of 1343 Shahab Radio Company (current Shahab under the supervision of the Koter Economic Organization affiliated with the Islamic Revolution Martyr Foundation) and Pars Electric Company (currently under Shasta Group (owned by the Social Security Organization) launched its first series of televisions.

23-inch MBL televisions under Philips license by Shahab and 23-inch Toshiba televisions under Shibura RTI license from November 1, 1352, and Shahab almost simultaneously with the Shahab brand, Hitachi stopped the production of vacuum lamp televisions and replaced 24-inch all-transistor televisions.

History of color television in Iran

The history of color TV in Iran dates back to the 1950s, when the first color TV made in Iran with the brand Blaupunkt left the production line of Shahab company in 1354, but Arti E launched its first color TV in 27 inches in 1356.

In 1358, the radio and television company was covered by the Iranian National Industries Organization and continued its activities by importing parts from Italy and launching its products on the market under the Azadi brand. Later, this group merged with Payam TV Company (former Belmond) and the Jihoon Street factory became the exhibition broadcasting warehouse and the central store and central repair shop for Payam TVs (manufactured with Gold Star LG parts).

In 1371, Payam Company became the exclusive representative of NEC Japan and until the early 1980s, it produced all kinds of televisions with NEC picture lamps in sizes of 14, 21, 25, and 34 inches.

A 42-inch plasma model entered the market after the production of picture lamp televisions was stopped, but it did not meet with success, and following the closure of the Tehran factory at km 12 of Abali Road and the Semnan factory, the after-sales service of NEC TVs was closed for 10 years. was in charge and then it was closed forever.

Until some time ago, the lock that was placed on the door of the store and the central repair shop of Payam Company (the exclusive representative of NEC TVs in Iran) attracted attention. Many brands were launched in the 1940s not far from these two brands, including Philips Iran (Aria Electronics), Koffred (manufacturer of National TVs in Isfahan province), Ekbar on New Tehran Street, Blair (Jam Jahan Nama) ) located thirty meters from the air force, Belmond (Abali road) pointed out.

Some of these brands faced a production jump in the late 1990s with a common platform based on the 20-inch Gold Star TV chassis, but with the start of assembly of global brands such as Sony, Samsung, and LG in Iran, people’s interest in these TVs is low. And finally, they were closed one after another.
